徒步旅行者最垂青的是第三个路线，穿越大峡谷的缘到缘之行（R2RHiking）。这也是在大峡谷徒步行中最流行的活动。但对于训练有素的运动爱好者来说，第四个路线，缘到缘到缘的跑步行（R2R2RRunning），是最有挑战性的，也是很流行的。来回大约50英里，最好的记录大约是10个小时。

从一个边缘跨越到其他边缘，然后再返回。这样的长途跋涉沿着不同的路径方式来来回回改变方向。当你陷入深处的火山口，起来时发现岩层接近彩虹的砖色，非常醒目。蜿蜒的科罗拉多河通过漂亮的丝带——高30公尺的瀑布，像在微风中飘扬的彩带，向你招手示意。而当你到达底部，仰望的时候，你会觉得自己像一个蚂蚁一样微小。避免夏季和冬季(北缘接近的部分)旅行，徒步旅行往返需时约四到七天。

2021年华盛顿州一名男子面临联邦指控，他被控在新旧冠肺炎疫情期间组织了一次非法徒步穿越大峡谷国家公园的活动，共153 人参加。一份联邦政府的文件称，许多徒步者没有戴口罩，也没有保持社交距离。

据悉，约瑟夫唐芒特花了数月时间组织这次徒步旅行，尽管公园管理人员多次告诉他，这违反了疫情期间的各项限制。根据公园规定，在疫情期间，团体活动的人数限制为11 人。大峡谷公园管理人员收到了一份投诉，称至少有 100人计划到大峡谷进行一次徒步旅行，公园随即对这次远足发出了警告。芒特留言写道：\"至少有十几个州的人报名参加了这次徒步旅行\" 。

有关部门表示，芒特向每人收取了 95美元的登记费，共计收取了数千美元。法庭文件显示，他被指控提供虚假报告、故意干扰政府雇员、无证招揽业务、违反活动限制和违反新冠疫情限制。。。

不过到了2022年之后，美国大峡谷解封了，游客大量涌入景区，绝大部分群众并没有戴口罩。

Jumbo Huang Notes, Grand Canyon National Park, located in northwestern Arizona, is the 15th site in the United States to have been named as a national park. The park\'s central feature is the Grand Canyon, a gorge of the Colorado River, which is often considered one of the Wonders of the World. The park, which covers 1,217,262 acres (1,901.972 sq mi; 4,926.08 km2) of unincorporated area in Coconino and Mohave counties, received more than six million recreational visitors in 2017, which is the second highest count of all American national parks after Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Grand Canyon was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. The park celebrated its 100th anniversary on February 26, 2019.

The Grand Canyon became well known to Americans in the 1880s after railroads were built and pioneers developed infrastructure and early tourism. In 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt visited the site and said,
